About

I have always been an artist and designer. I remember asking my father to subscribe to Architectural Digest and House Beautiful when I was a kid. I was also the kid that redesigned my friend’s playrooms and doll houses. We were frequent shoppers at the crafts store in my hometown, buying a miniature kiln, decoupage supplies, pastels, or whatever excited me at the moment.

It was a stroke of luck that I was born in the Washington DC suburbs. The Smithsonian was a short drive away, and it was a frequent destination for me and my artsy high school friends. When I went off to college, I was torn between going to an art school or liberal arts school. I found a liberal arts school that had a high-quality education in both. I started off as a photography, art history, and psychology triple major and ended up dropping the BFA in Photography because of the length of the program.

My career has taken many twists and turns. I have always had difficulty passing up an opportunity that sounds good at the time. Some of these opportunities turned out to be disasters, but I learned so much from each of them. I am finally in the profession I was meant to be in. Lighting design combines so many of the disciplines I explored throughout my life. It also gives me great joy to be creative and help people experience their homes in new ways. The ultimate compliment is when a clients says “I love the lighting in my home!”
